To all the rude people out there: STOP IT.
Tonight I went dancing. Wait, back up, I had a pretty good day today: watched some Globetrotters from Harlem play bball, ate a good portioned meal of 1/4 soup 3/4 dessert for lunch, and spent the rest of my night watching The New Girl (love) and other junk found on Hulu. These happy memories all lead me to believe that I am generally happy with life and that I am generally a happy person. And then there are moments where I want to just yell at people and tell them to shut up before talking to me and just don’t. Yup. I may be a psychopath because one moment I’m just fine and dandy and the next, something in me snaps and I’m ready to bring out the metaphorical “big guns” and throw down.
For instance, tonight, when we went dancing (see, I came back to it, it just took me a little while to gather my thoughts) there was this couple who, for whatever reason, would NOT stop bumping into Cam and I. The dumb lady of the couple would keep stepping on my feet or the guy would just pull them into us, basically knocking us over, and NEITHER of them said sorry. Are you kidding me? You’re going to step on my feet with your ugly heels and bump into my boyfriend ‘cause you’re a short little man who can’t notice the world around him and you’re not gonna say ANYTHING along the lines of “excuse me” or “my bad” or “whoops! (nervous/embarrassed giggle)”???? Oh heeeeellllls no…
After about the third time of playing human bumper cars I turned to them and started to say something along the lines of, “Alright, hey. Hi. We’re right here watch where you’re going,” when Cam quickly moved us away. So I only got out the “Alright, hey” part. Disappointing but probably for the better.
This whole ordeal reminded me of work and how absolutely rude people can be. Two days ago this guy and his wife stopped by to look at phones and he asked about the prices and if we’d give him more off because he gets a discount at the corporate store for being the main line on the account. I told him no, only the corporate store does that, but our prices are lower where I work, even if he were to go get the phone with his discount. He then proceeded to tell me how I was wrong and he’s been getting new phones for years and that’s not how it works, pretty much yelling at me the whole time. Look, sir, I’m sorry you’ve been getting RIPPED OFF for years and can’t deal with the truth like an adult but I’m actually working FOR a phone company and know a little bit more about the situation than you do. Now get out ma face.
I’m sorry, but who does that? Who throws a fit in the middle of a store while having a completely INDOOR-VOICED conversation? I didn’t say anything rude or demeaning to the guy, and he just FREAKED. Just like another customer’s wife who came in and yelled at me for selling a phone to her husband. She said, and I quote, “Why did you let my husband buy this phone?” Um…because he told me to sell it to him…so I did…cause that’s my job…duh. She was mad because she didn’t want him to go out and buy something without her permission. Wow. Who taught these people how to act? Seriously. I want names. Attention all future customers, please come in with your parents or their contact information so that I can reach them and tell them what a horrible job they did raising you. Thank you.
Anyway, I’m going to calm down with a book, look forward to tomorrow (my day off) and not talk to anyone annoying for the entire day. Peace.
